Description
A creeping plant with a rhizome that is blood-red at the break. In spring, white flowers bloom before the leaves appear, and gray-green leaves unfurl at the end of flowering. Foliage height 25-35 cm. Requires a moderately moist, but well-drained, nutrient-rich, shady or semi-shady location. During long droughts, it must be watered to prevent the leaves from drying out too early. They usually start to turn yellow in August, even earlier in a sunny location.
