Description
The Italian heirloom variety 'Tromba di Albenga', or literally trumpet squash from the Albenga region, is a nice, dense-textured variety. The seeds are only in the "nose" of the fruit. The ripe fruits keep well. Suitable for consumption both as young fruit, then more reminiscent of a zucchini, or when fully ripe, then with a nice nutty flavor. If the plant is allowed to climb up a support, long straight fruits over 100 cm long grow, when grown in the ground the fruits are more like fun ring rolls or as the name suggests - resemble a trumpet. Good for grilling, salad, soup or the so-called false orange juice is also very good - ask for my secret recipe :)
