Blue star ( Amsonia ) is a hardy perennial whose delicate blue-purple star-shaped flowers open in clusters at the tips of the stems in spring. In summer, the plant provides a beautiful backdrop of reed-green leaves to the bed, which turn a warm golden yellow in autumn - giving blue star two separate seasonal values. Suitable for both sunny and semi-shaded beds.
