Description
A slightly lower and more compact variety - height 60–90 cm. The fine and upright inflorescences are deep red, almost blackish in color (hence the name 'Blackfield'). The color does not fade with age, but remains intense. Very long flowering - from July to the first strong night frosts (often until October). The variety was bred by the well-known Belgian landscape architect and perennial breeder Chris Ghyselen. He is the author of many modern top varieties and 'Blackfield' is one of his most appreciated achievements. Prefers a sunny to semi-shaded location. In the sun, the color of the flowers is especially bright, but the soil must be sufficiently moist. Requires moist, fertile and humus-rich soil. 'Blackfield' does not tolerate drying out. Also well suited to heavier clay soils.
