Description
A striking shade garden perennial with double flowers that are dark purple with greenish tips – small, mysterious stars that rise nicely above the foliage. Blooms in late May and early June. The leaves are green, often with a darker pattern, and remain beautiful even after flowering. Height 40–60 cm. Prefers a semi-shaded to shady location, where the soil is moderately moist and rich in humus. Well suited to a forest-edge garden, under shrubs or in a shadier bed. Undemanding and hardy.
