Description
This extremely rare species of hyacinth, which is in danger of extinction ("Red Book"), grows worldwide only in sparse oak-white beech forests and shrubs around the capital of Dagestan, Makhachkala, on humus-rich carbonate soils. It grows well in the garden both in the sun and in the shade. The dense, lovely light pink inflorescence, up to 8 cm in diameter, blooms in early June.
